Sassy Politics
Sassy Politics is a weekly political commentary show that’s feminist AF, independent, and unapologetically sassy.
Hosted by Christi Chanelle, this podcast breaks down the news with sharp wit, sarcasm, and a side of are-you-kidding-me energy. No corporate talking points. No both-sides nonsense. Just real talk about the issues that matter.
From book bans and culture wars to reproductive justice, economic inequality, grassroots movements, and clown behavior in Congress—Christi covers it all through the lens of people over profit, equality over ego, and facts over fearmongering.
This is the show for people who are tired of performative politics and polished punditry. It’s for folks who care about justice, value truth, and want to understand the headlines without the BS.
Sassy Politics is smart, sarcastic, and rooted in real people, real impact—because someone had to say it.
New episodes every week.

This week on The Monday Breakdown, we’re peeling back the layers on headlines that feel more like satire than reality. We’re talking dangerous vanity, policy propaganda, and state-level threats to human rights.
Spoiler: Iowa’s attacking trans protections, Nevada is trying to control teen pregnancies, and New York might finally do right by survivors of sexual abuse.
If you’re feeling like the news should come with a trigger warning—it’s because it absolutely should. Let’s break it down.

This week, trump's dressing like the Pope, renaming national holidays, and Tesla trucks are literally falling apart. So yeah, let's get into the madness before it rebrands itself too. I'm Christy Chanel, and this is Sassy Politics. And this is Sassy Politics. Welcome to the Monday Breakdown, because the news should come with a trigger warning. The headlines are unhinged, the hypocrisy is thick and I brought notes, so let's go On. May 2nd, trump posted an AI-generated image of himself dressed as the Pope on Truth Social. We're talking full-on throne robes cross, posted just days after the Pope Francis' funeral. The internet dubbed it Pope fiction and honestly, I'm not sure if this is propaganda, parody or just peak Trump vanity. Rebranding Veterans Day, because why stop at religious cosplay when you can rewrite history too? Trump also announced that he wants to rename Veterans Day to Victory Day for World War I and designate May 8th as a Victory Day for World War II. So instead of honoring all veterans, we're turning it into a World Wars fan club. The move was widely slammed by veteran groups and historians alike, but when has historical accuracy ever been a priority?
Speaker 1:Kentucky Derby 2025. Now for some galloping chaos. Sovereignty won the 151st Kentucky Derby this weekend. It was rainy, the track was sloppy and the favorite horse journalism lost. You cannot make that up. Sovereignty beat journalism in 2025. That is your metaphor for the year. Take it and run. That is your metaphor for the year. Take it and run. Tesla issued a recall of over 46,000 Cybertrucks because, brace yourself the trim panels are flying off while driving Owners are being told to come in for repairs. But let's be clear If your $80,000 cyber truck can't hold itself together on the freeway, elon might need to start issuing helmets. Warren Buffett, who is stepping down from Berkshire Hathaway at the end of the year, just casually warned that a truly staggering weather disaster could happen someday, any day. And that's quotes, you know. You know things are bad when the billionaire in charge of America's financial health is basically saying good luck everyone.
Speaker 1:50 states of WTF the Justice Watch. Welcome to the 50 states of WTF, where I watch the courts, so you don't have to. From state bans to surprise wins. This is your weekly breakdown of who's protecting our rights and who's playing fast and loose with the Constitution. Nevada, may 3rd 2025. A federal judge temporarily blocked enforcement of a 1985 law that would require parental notification for minors seeking abortions. Planned Parenthood is fighting back, calling it unconstitutionally vague. The fight to enshrine abortion rights in Nevada's constitution is still on Iowa law effective July 1st 2025, past February 2025. Senate file for 18 removes gender identity as a protected class under Iowa's civil rights act translation. It will now be legal in Iowa to discriminate against trans people in housing, jobs, schools. You name it One of the harshest anti-trans rollbacks in the country.
Speaker 1:New York, may 3rd 2025. Lawmakers introduced a powerful legislative package to protect survivors of sexual abuse. Key pieces include the Speak your Truth Act, which shields survivors from retaliatory lawsuits, and the Fair Access to Justice Act, which extends the reporting window for state institution abuse cases. This is what it looks like when lawmakers actually fight for people. That's it for this week's Monday Breakdown. Don't forget to subscribe, share the episode and tell your friends what's really going down. Stay loud, stay informed and stay sassy. Love you miss you Bye.
