Speaker 1:

What do you do when you go for a service? So you're paying somebody else for something and you don't like it. How do you handle it? I gotta know. I'm about to tell you how I handled it. Let's go the Lovey Mishy by podcast. Let's inspire each other. Let's inspire each other. If you're watching on YouTube, you can see that my hair is now three different colors. Yeah, and that is because I went and got my hair done yesterday, so let me rewind. I went and got my hair done yesterday, so let me rewind.

Speaker 1:

I have been going to the same hairstylist for about four years. I have probably had the same hair color for about at least seven at least seven. She was able to kind of get inside my brain, pull out what I wanted and nail it, and I've been going to her ever since. You know we have a good relationship. I just like her as a human and she does a great job on my hair.

Speaker 1:

I have been contemplating getting darker hair, just trying to go darker, and it's because people are putting this idea in my head that I need to go back to my natural color. I kind of brought it up to her three months ago. I was like, yeah, I think I might want to go brown again. And she was totally against it. She's like, no, you don't want to do that. She's like you're never going to go back, you're never going to look like you used to look. And I get that, I get that. But having so many people tell me that made me really start to think well, maybe there's something to it. Just because I have dark features, it may make them pop a little bit. I don't know. I mean, I'm not a hairstylist, I don't know. I just know what I like.

Speaker 1:

And so I went in yesterday and told her that I wanted to add some dark to my hair so that I could kind of darken the bright red. You know, I just I wanted to do that. I said I wanted to cut my money pieces or the hair around the frame of my face in half. And she's like, okay, I'm still very, very much against it and said what I'm going to do is I'm going to put some darker, low lights in your hair. Then you'd be able to kind of sit with it for a little while till you go full brown, just like I suggest getting a wig. Try all these things out and see how you feel, because once we go dark, it's going to be very difficult to get back to your pretty red. I said, okay, got it.

Speaker 1:

Well, I am not a complainer, I'm just not. I'm the type of customer that will go in and let them create. They're in this career path for a reason. They can see people and know what to do and I just let them create. I don't really, you know, I say a few things here and there, but I just go with it and do what you got to do.

Speaker 1:

Well, there's a certain lighting when you're sitting in the chair in the salon versus outside in the sun. So when I was sitting there, I was like, oh, I love the darkness around my face. That is so good, I really, really like it. And then I go outside and I look and I'm like, oh my God, this is bad, this is bad, bad. I know my lighting in here is not going to give you the lighting that you should get when I'm trying to show you the stark difference between the color in my hair, but it is literally dark brown, like where the blonde strip was completely dark brown and then the rest. I do see where she pulled in some some darker colors.

Speaker 1:

Hannah, I'm podcasting, recording a podcast at home can be chaotic. Try to pick the times where I know that they're in their room, they're not here, they're sleeping and undoubtedly chaos can break out in the background. I think I have a microphone that doesn't pick up a lot of sounds in the background, but there are some that it's going to pick up on. Plus, it distracts me, so I had to stop recording. She was making herself breakfast and start again, so I may lose a little bit of my flow. But whatever you guys know me, I'm chaotic anyway. So the bottom line is I'm not happy with my hair. Typically, I'm the customer. That would say something in a polite, respectful way, but I would voice how I feel about whatever.

Speaker 1:

When you have built a relationship with a hairdresser right, I'm sure some of you have a hairstylist that you've been going to or that you just started using and you've developed a relationship and it's almost like sitting in a therapy chair. Well, for me it's the opposite, because I'm a therapist and they're the one that are telling me their, their issues or their problems. That's just a role in the world, as I'm sitting here on a podcast telling you my entire life, I'm just not as open in the chair. I'm just not. You know it's really hard to say I hate it. It's very, very difficult to do that, or can you help me fix it? So instead, I mean to be fair, I didn't know how much I didn't like it until I got out in the sun like it until I got out in the sun and then when I got home I realized I hate it, like I hate it. I put a video on TikTok and everybody pretty much hated it. There wasn't one person that said it looked good at all. So there's that. I know that some of you are just listening to this podcast so you're not seeing the visual, so I'm going to try to put a visual as the thumbnail of the podcast so you can at least see what is happening with this horror.

Speaker 1:

There are some people that go home and then jump on Yelp and they leave a terrible, terrible review or Reddit and they scream about their stories, which, honestly, I like the Reddit better, as long as you don't use actual names and stuff, because you're giving people a chance to say, oh my God, I had the same experience. It's kind of you guys talking to each other. Where Yelp is an actual business review and would I go on to Yelp and complain about the salon or the stylist? Absolutely not. I would not. It would take A lot for me to go on Yelp and hurt somebody's business. It just would. And maybe that comes from the fact that my son, my oldest son, austin, is a business owner. He's a locksmith and he was just starting out and you have to pay for certain things on Yelp, you know, to get your, your site there, to have the reviews, to have people find you so that they can call you for service. It's a marketing area.

Speaker 1:

Whenever somebody would leave a bad review, it would sometimes be detrimental to him. There was one customer that kept going and leaving a bad review, even though he was wrong, and Austin underneath was trying to say you know, let's work through this, like it was constant, like you suck, like it was weird, it was very, very strange. And so Austin called Yelp. They were able to take the review down a few times I think the first three but it was like tormenting him because he depends on those Yelp reviews and he tries so hard and he'll go and say please leave a review for me. It helps my business.

Speaker 1:

So I have a problem with people that just go out there to hurt people and leave these bad reviews, because I understand what it's like to be a small business. So I would just say, if you're that type of person, sure, if you had a bad experience, you have every right to put it out there and then, as the owner of the business, they should come back and try to make you happy. If it was truly a situation that could have been fixed. That's how I view it. But if you're just leaving reviews to be a cruel person, like, seriously, you need to be reviewed. I'm very protective of the small business. I'm essentially one. I don't know, I'm not selling anything, but I am a small business as well. So it it matters, it definitely matters. I would say, if you're the type to go and leave a bad review, I hope that you're the type to go and leave a good review.

Speaker 1:

So now I have a couple questions for you. One so should I go red or should I go brown? And should I change hairdressers? Because not only did she screw this up, she left hair dye, a big clump of brown hair dye, right here in my ear, and when I went and looked, I'm like, oh my God, there was some on my face. Maybe she was having a bad day. I mean, we all have bad days, I get it, I don't know. Maybe it's time for a change. So give me your opinion on that, if I need to change hairstylists, and let me know if you actually go out of your way to leave a review, whether positive or negative, on a business.

Speaker 1:

I would love to hear it because I want to know what goes through your mind. You know what I mean. I would just ask that one. You think about what you're about to say and how it will impact somebody, and you think about why it's necessary for you to do it. What's the drive? What's the reason? Are you really helping other people so that they don't have the same experience, or are you trying to get revenge? I would love to know how you would react, what I should do here, if you could tell me. Leave me a comment or send me a text message. It's right there in the show notes, the very top. I hope you have a wonderful day.
